We don’t know about you, but as soon as the sun starts peeking out and the days get longer, we start to get serious about planning in an annual spring clean. Now, if you’re like us, it’s something you actually look forward to. A fresh start to a new season, a chance to give your home some much needed TLC and a clear out after a never-ending winter!

Why do people spring clean?
Back in the day when homes had fires and cold winters were spent with the doors firmly shut, a spring clean was an annual event to clean all the soot and grime that accumulated during the colder months. These days it’s much more symbolic of fresh starts after a long winter.
What does spring cleaning include?
The short answer is ‘whatever you want it to’. From deep cleaning your house, to showing your garden some love, clearing out old clothes and even tackling the loft, the list can be as long (or short) as you want it to be.

Our top 5 tips for a smooth spring clean
- Make a plan of attack and stick to it
It’s so easy to get completely overwhelmed with so much to tackle. Break it down into manageable chunks and tick your tasks off as you go.
- Go room by room
Don’t look at your house as a whole. Go room by room and set yourself a time limit in each.
- Crack open the windows
If you’ve chosen a sunny day, open up all your windows and doors and let some fresh spring air in while you clean.
- Crank up some music
The only way to get through it is to make it fun! Put on some of your favourite tunes and dance your way through it.
- Give yourself a reward
Set yourself challenges and then reward yourself. Have a nice cuppa after finishing the bathroom and make yourself a nice dinner to celebrate finishing!
