Soup Season – 3 Easy Soup Recipes to Make This Winter

Here are three easy, low-cost, family-friendly soup recipes perfect for a wet UK winter. Each is designed for use in the Daewoo soup maker, takes only 5 minutes of prep, and delivers comforting, low-calorie meals for all.

  1. Creamy Carrot and Lentil Soup

    Servings: 4 | Calories per serving: ~150
    Preparation Time: 5 minutes | Cooking Time: ~20 minutes (depending on your soup maker's settings)

    Ingredients:
    4 medium carrots, peeled and sliced (approx. 400g)
    100g dried red lentils, rinsed
    1 small onion, diced
    1 vegetable stock cube dissolved in 750ml hot water
    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
    1/2 teaspoon paprika
    Black pepper to taste

    Instructions:
    1. Add the carrots, lentils, onion, and spices to your soup maker.
    2. Pour in the vegetable stock up to the "MAX" line of your soup maker.
    3. Select the "Smooth" setting and let the soup maker do its magic.
    4. Once done, serve hot and garnish with a sprinkle of paprika if desired.



  2. Hearty Tomato and Basil Soup

    Servings: 4 | Calories per serving: ~120
    Preparation Time: 5 minutes | Cooking Time: ~20 minutes

    Ingredients:
    2 cans (400g each) chopped tomatoes
    1 medium onion, diced
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 vegetable stock cube dissolved in 500ml hot water
    1 handful of fresh basil leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried basil)
    1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
    Salt and black pepper to taste

    Instructions:
    1. Add the chopped tomatoes, onion, garlic, and basil to your soup maker.
    2. Pour in the vegetable stock and balsamic vinegar. Keep contents below the "MAX" line.
    3. Select the "Smooth" setting and let it blend and cook.
    4. Once ready, serve with an optional sprinkle of fresh basil or black pepper.



  3. Warming Potato and Leek Soup

    Servings: 4 | Calories per serving: ~180
    Preparation Time: 5 minutes | Cooking Time: ~20 minutes

    Ingredients:
    2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced (approx. 300g)
    2 leeks, sliced (white and light green parts only)
    1 vegetable stock cube dissolved in 750ml hot water
    1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
    Salt and black pepper to taste

    Instructions:
    1. Add the diced potatoes and sliced leeks to your soup maker.
    2. Pour in the vegetable stock and add the thyme, salt, and pepper. Ensure the total liquid is within the machine's guidelines.
    3. Select the "Chunky" or "Smooth" setting, depending on your preferred texture.
    4. Once done, serve hot and enjoy!

Any of the above recipes can be adjusted for taste and preference. Adding a little more black pepper or kick things up a notch and throw in some chilli powder.
