January is a loooong month.
The festive food shop feels like a distant memory, payday is still stubbornly not here, and you’re opening the fridge like it might surprise you with a ready-made lasagne.
The good news? You don’t need fancy ingredients or a full weekly shop to eat well. With a bit of creativity, a few leftovers, and some clever kitchen helpers, you can turn fridge odds and ends into proper meals that’ll carry you with less stress and less spend up until payday.
This is where Daewoo comes in. From air fryers to slow cookers and compact kitchen essentials, our New Year, New You range is perfect for stretching what you’ve already got - without sacrificing flavour (or your sanity).
Here are some easy, budget-friendly recipes designed to make the most of leftovers, scraps and whatever’s lurking at the back of the fridge.

1. Leftover Chicken & Potato Traybake (Air Fryer)
This is the kind of meal that looks intentional, even if it was born entirely out of necessity. Crispy, comforting and ready in minutes: no oven required.
Ingredients:
- Leftover cooked chicken breast (or raw if you’re starting fresh)
- Potatoes, cut into wedges or cubes
- Any spare seasoning or herbs you’ve got knocking about
- ½ tbsp oil
Instructions:
- Add the potato cubes to one drawer of your Daewoo Split Drawer Air Fryer. Toss with oil and seasoning.
- Cook at 180°C for 12-18 minutes, shaking halfway through.
- Add the chicken to the second drawer and cook at 180°C for 10-15 minutes, turning once.
- Serve with smug satisfaction - no oven, no fuss.

2. Steamed Fridge-Veg Medley (Food Steamer)
Using the Daewoo 3-Tier Food Steamer
Limp carrots? Half a pepper? Broccoli that’s had a tough week? This is their moment.
Ingredients:
- Any leftover or fresh vegetables (carrots, broccoli, green beans, peppers)
- Optional: rice or grains, using the included rice bowl
Instructions:
- Layer your vegetables across the steamer baskets of your Daewoo Food Steamer.
- Add water to the reservoir, set the timer and walk away.
- Serve as a side, toss into a stir-fry, or combine with leftover protein to make it feel like a full plan.

3. Ham & Mushroom Omelette (Deep Fill Omelette Maker)
Using the Daewoo Deep Fill Omelette Maker
Eggs are a payday hero, and this omelette is proof that leftovers can still feel like a proper meal.
Ingredients (Serves 1):
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp cooked chopped lean ham
- 1 dessertspoon chopped raw mushrooms
Instructions:
- Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
- Pour into one well of the pre-heated Daewoo Omelette Maker.
- Close the lid and cook for around 10 minutes, until fluffy and cooked through.
- Eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner - rules don’t apply this close to payday.

4. Leftover Veg & Rice Slow Cooker “Risotto” (Slow Cooker)
Using the Daewoo 3.5L Slow Cooker
Comfort food made from scraps, and somehow even better than expected.
Ingredients:
- Any leftover cooked vegetables (carrots, peppers, onions, greens)
- 125g rice
- 275ml vegetable stock
- ½ tsp curry powder (or whatever spice you’ve got)
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Add vegetable stock, uncooked rice, spices and salt to the Daewoo Slow Cooker.
- Layer the leftover veg on top.
- Cook on LOW for 8-9 hours or HIGH for 4-4½ hours.
- Stir through softer veg near the end if needed, then serve warm and generously.
